A Gwinnett County animal welfare organization is offering inexpensive vaccinations and microchipping for your dogs and cats on April 30.

The Society of Humane Friends of Georgia will be at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with treatments starting at $5.

Strongid, a dewormer for cats and dogs, will be available for $5. Dog vaccines including those for bordatella, lepto, rabies and DHPP (distemper and cat vaccines including those for rabies and FVRCCP (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia) are $10. Canine influenza vaccines are $15 and require a booster shot two to four weeks after the initial shot.

You can get your pet microchipped for $25. Microchips help identify pets if they run away or get lost without wearing another kind of identification, like a collar.

All proceeds benefit the Society of Humane Friends’ low-cost spay and neuter clinic, as well as the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office jail dog and cat program.
