A U.S. Army soldier from Georgia was injured during a suicide bombing at an American base in Afghanistan, WTOC-TV reported.
Winston Hencely, 20, of Savannah, was injured Saturday in a explosion along with 16 others, the news station reported. Hencely’s family said shrapnel hit him in the head and chest during the attack, The Associated Press reported.
Since the blast, loved ones, fellow soldiers and veterans took to social media asking for prayers for Hencely’s speedy recovery, sparking the hashtag #prayforWinston.
Nine Line Apparel, which was founded by two Army veterans, asked people to send thoughts and prayers to Hencely’s family.
“Let us never forget the sacrifices of the brave men and women of our armed forces,” the company said in a Facebook post.
