Georgians will have to find somewhere else to shop for quick pickups and deals on dryer sheets, toothpaste, cereal and other necessary items.

Charlotte-based retailer Dollar Express announced in April that it would be closing all of its stores nationwide by June 30. In Georgia, that means 14 stores across several counties.

According to data provided by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the closings of Dollar Express stores will result in an estimated 90 people laid off.

A week before Dollar Express announced that its stores would be closing the company was bought by competitor Dollar General. The Detroit Free Press reported that Dollar General will close the stores, give them a makeover and re-open them under their yellow-and-black signs in about six weeks.

It was unclear whether Dollar General will hire the laid-off employees, The Charlotte Observer reported. A spokesman for Dollar General declined comment to the Observer.
