Motorists can expect slowdowns and lane closures along Ga. 20 in Cherokee County this week as state highway crews replace reflective raised pavement markers that have become damaged or obliterated.

Georgia Department of Transportation crews will work on Ga. 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily through Friday, weather permitting. The highway is a key east-west thoroughfare, running through Canton and connecting central Cherokee County with Cartersville on the west and Cumming on the east.

Snowplows used in the winter to clear the roads of snow and ice, as well as sunny summer weather and traffic volumes, “all weigh heavily on the durability of the lane markers,” GDOT said.
