Residents who attended a demonstration at a DeKalb County fire station Tuesday morning got quite the real-world experience.

During the demo at station No. 26, trash in a garbage truck outside happened to catch fire, DeKalb County Fire Rescue said.

“It can be a stinky situation when a garbage truck catches fire in front of your station,” the fire department wrote in a tweet. “Today, that’s exactly what happened.”

Crews put out the blaze. A photo tweeted by the department showed a large, wet mound of trash outside the station.

There was minimal, if any, damage to the truck, department spokesman Capt. Dion Bentley said. No injuries were reported.

Station 26 is located at 2522 McAfee Road near Decatur.
