Fulton County schools will play a major part at the 2017 Shuler Hensley Awards, with students from nearly 20 of its schools being honored as the best in Georgia high school theater.

The show ceremony is being broadcast live on Georgia Public Broadcasting from the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets for the ninth annual ceremony are sold out.

The nearly 60 Fulton students involved are playing in the student ensemble, helping with production, nominated or receiving scholarships. Sixteen DeKalb students will also take part in the show.

Three Fulton schools were nominated for awards. Johns Creek High is nominated for Ensemble and Overall Production for “Cinderella,” and King’s Ridge Christian School is nominated for Overall Production for “Guys and Dolls.” One award has already been announced: Milton High won Showstopper for the song “9 to 5,” and students will perform the song in the award show.
