Police in Johns Creek are hoping to pack the police department next week with women of all ages eager to learn how to defend themselves.

The Johns Creek Police Department will host a free class on self-defense that night and it is aimed at teaching teenage girls and women to learn situational awareness.

While the class comes at no cost to its participants, space is limited. Instructors ask that those interested RSVP through EventBrite.

Instructors advise that participants should wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes. Skirts and dresses are not allowed.

The class runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on April 18.
