Forsyth County school officials are looking for feedback on a draft revision of the district’s medication policy.

The draft revision spells out that trained school nurses and employees will provide help to anyone deemed suffering from an opioid overdose. It specifies that nurses trained in accordance with guidelines can administer Naxolone to the victim of any apparent drug overdose. It also says anyone acting in good faith and with reasonable care can utilize an “opioid antagonist” to anyone believed to be overdosing.

The policy also covers familiar ground on student medications and procedures for school officials storing and keeping records on medication, as well as students’ self-administering such medication as asthma inhalers.
