Fire destroys CrossFit gym in North Fulton

Authorities are investigating what caused the fire at CrossFit Sweat Mountain in Roswell on Friday.

The Roswell Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed everything inside a CrossFit gym on Woodstock Road on Friday.

Crews responded to the scene just after 9 p.m. and found CrossFit Sweat Mountain engulfed in flames. The integrity of the building had been compromised, so firefighters couldn’t attack the fire from the interior of the building, said Roswell Fire Department Captain Pabel Troche.

No one was injured and no other buildings were damaged. Additional crews from Roswell and Sandy Springs assisted in extinguishing the flames.

Operators of the gym posted to Facebook on Saturday saying, “CrossFit Sweat Mountain may be down, but we are not out.”

Troche said the fire is still under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.

GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help rebuild the gym. As of Monday afternoon, $2,745 of it's $30,000 goal had been raised.

The gym opened in April 2014 and the owners of it said Monday that they felt “very blessed by everyone's generosity and support.”
