A 3-month-old Golden Retriever service puppy who was stolen from her kennel a week ago has been found.

The puppy, Dorie, was brought to the Georgia SPCA in Suwanee by two women who said they were approached by a woman holding Dorie at an area Publix, volunteer coordinator Laura Wade said. The woman handed them the dog and ran away. The puppy had a note on her.

“Please return this dog to Canine Assistants,” the note read.

SPCA operations manager Nick Haden said Dorie was hungry and thirsty, but energetic enough to play with volunteers after a meal of kibble and water. Milton police and volunteers from Canine Assistants planned to retrieve the dog Wednesday.

“She’s doing good, real good,” Wade said.

The puppy was stolen from her kennel at the Canine Assistants facility between the evening of Sept. 3 and the morning of Sept. 4.

In the time since she was stolen, the hashtag #FindDorie had been seen on social media, as many called for her safe return.
