A 30-year-old man who was one Atlanta police’s 10 most wanted was arrested in South Carolina, officials say.

Julius Rawls fled the state after he was allegedly involved in a violent home invasion, robbery and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

FBI agents with the FBI Columbia/Myrtle Beach Resident Agency captured Rawls Monday morning, Agent Stephen Emmett, a spokesman for the FBI field office in Atlanta, said in an emailed statement.

Rawls and Demonte Savalas Mitchell, who was arrested March 21 on rape, sodomy and armed robbery charges, are accused of forcing their way into an Atlanta residence on Jan. 29, Emmett said.

Mitchell struck the girl in the back of the head with his pistol and demanded valuables as Rawls stole items from the home, according to a police report.

The girl was then forced into an office where Mitchell demanded she take her pants off and forced her on top of the desk, according to the report. The girl managed to escape and was headed to the garage before Mitchell grabbed her and sexually assaulted her in a nearby bathroom.

Mitchell allegedly dragged the girl to another bathroom and told her to stay there. Mitchell and Rawls had left the home, but It wasn’t until her grandmother arrived that the girl left the bathroom, the report states. The teen was taken to Atlanta Medical Center where she was treated and a rape kit was performed.

The girl’s father told police he was robbed at gunpoint two hours earlier and a few blocks away from the home invasion. The suspects took his wallet, keys and cell phone, according to the report. The father believes Mitchell and Rawls were involved in that robbery as well.

Rawls will be detained in South Carolina while he awaits extradition back to Atlanta, Georgia on those charges.
