Fayette County school officials are narrowing the options for renovating or replacing the J.C. Booth Middle School building in Peachtree City.

Assistant Superintendent Mike Sanders and facilities director Mike Satterfield presented the Board of Education with five possible options at the Jan. 7 work session. Those projects ranged from renovations for additional classroom, gym and cafeteria space to more extensive additions and reconfigurations of the existing building and grounds, or possibly constructing a new school on recently acquired property and repurposing the current structure. Cost estimates range from $15 million to $50 million.

The board’s consensus was to eliminate both the least and most expensive projects and begin public discussions regarding three options of varying scope and cost.
