Once grass starts growing along roadways in spring, Fayette County has a new plan for mowing it. In December, the Board of Commissioners approved an enhanced maintenance schedule for 2018 that will devote more attention to the main state routes of Highways 54, 74 and 314.

The new plan divides the unincorporated parts of the county into three zones, including two that will be mowed three to four times per cycle and a third “red crew” that will provide continual mowing, trash collection, gutter cleaning and weed control along the busiest thoroughfares. Last year the county bought more mowing equipment and hired two additional full-time employees to improve service.
