Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Antioch Road and Goza Road in Fayette County moved a step closer following the Board of Commissioners’ approval of right-of-way acquisitions.

The board voted 4-0-1 (with Charles Rousseau absent) on April 12 to get the easements necessary to begin work. Public Works Director Phil Mallon said construction plans are complete, and a timeline for completion will be determined soon. Funding for the estimated $1.1 million project will come from remaining 2004 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax revenue, and from the 2014 SPLOST if needed.

A roundabout was deemed the best solution for preventing traffic accidents at the site.
