A man accused of robbing a bank in Sandy Springs earlier this month while wearing a distinct eyepatch has been captured, authorities said.

Sandy Springs Capt. Mike Lindstrom said in a telephone interview that Darrius King, 22, originally fled to Tennessee after the Sept. 6 bank robbery. Through several tips, local authorities were able to track down and arrest King in Norcross, Lindstrom said.

King is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo bank on Roswell Road. Police said the suspect who tried to conceal part his face with a white eyepatch passed a note to the bank teller demanding cash, later fleeing the scene in a black Dodge Charger.

A weapon was not displayed during the robbery, and police could not confirm the exact amount of money taken from the bank.

King was transported to Fulton County jail Thursday where he was charged with robbery by intimidation and simple assault.
