The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted recently to approve emergency expenditures up to $175,000 and authorize the county manager to move forward with necessary measures in light of a report that showed the building that houses Fire Station 8 is unsafe and should not be occupied.

That action includes obtaining a temporary structure for apparatus storage and pouring slabs for temporary mobile units to house personnel who were recently relocated to two other nearby stations upon receipt of the report. County officials will determine at a later date what to do regarding permanent replacement of the station.
