The Duluth City Council accepted a $50,000 donation Monday from The Residential Group to support the Duluth Public Arts Commission’s efforts to promote various types of public art in Duluth. These funds will be deposited into the Public Art Fund and used to support DPAC activities.

The council also accepted $5,000 in donations from local businesses to support the mayor’s annual state of the city address to be delivered at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Red Clay Music Foundry.

One more donation of $245 was accepted from the Parks and Recreation Department thanks to a recently conducted raffle for a hand-made quilt. The raffle raised money for the city’s Youth Scholarship Fund. The donation will be used to assist local youth with the cost of attending the Parks and Recreation’s summer day camp program.
