DeKalb County police rescued a toddler who was allegedly kidnapped by the mother’s ex-boyfriend early Thursday.

George Arnold, 27, is charged with kidnapping the boy while stealing the mom’s car from a hotel on Memorial Drive, near Columbia Drive, according to warrants. Brittany Jackson told Channel 2 Action News that Arnold took her 18-month-old because she broke up with him.

“It was real scary, I don't know, I didn't know if he was injured,” Jackson said.

She said she was panicked while police tracked her cell phone still inside the stolen car.

Police said Arnold crashed the car with little Nolan inside and later ran from officers when they showed up at his mother’s house.

An officer took the child from Arnold who was found outside the house. The incident report said it was about 45 minutes after the boy was kidnapped.

“You OK? What’s your name? I’m not going to hurt you, OK?” the officer can be heard asking the child in body camera footage released to the news station.

The boy had to be treated for hypothermia, according to the warrants.

He is now home with his mother.
