DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond plans to announce the start of demolition for two buildings at Brannon Hill Condominium on Thursday morning.

Demolition at the dilapidated complex is possible through an order signed last year by Superior Court Judge Gregory Adams.

“This phase of demolition will address 28 of the approximately 108 vacated units in various states of disrepair,” a statement from the county said. “Already, approximately 122 units at the complex have been demolished, and 186 are still inhabited.”

DeKalb's government sued this year for permission to intervene at the complex, long plagued by squatters and crime, near Memorial Drive and the city of Clarkston.
