A southeast Atlanta day care was forced to close its doors after a child was left asleep on a van.

Weeks after a child was left asleep in a van, southeast Atlanta day care Elite Kindercare was ordered to close by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.

“This action stems from the center leaving a child unattended on a vehicle and failing to complete required reporting to our agency,” DECAL spokesman Reg Griffin said in a statement Monday.

Earlier this month, Erica Brown complained the day care left her son asleep on a van instead of taking him to school, Channel 2 Action News reported.

A representative initially denied the claims, but later said they went to Brown’s home to discuss the situation.

The day care has 48 business hours to appeal the order.
