Henry County officials have applied for federal road funding through an Atlanta Regional Commission program.

The Henry County Board of Commissioners authorized county staff to apply for federal grant funding for Bill Gardner Parkway through the Atlanta Regional Commission.

The ARC’s call for projects through the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program requires a commitment of matching funds. The preliminary engineering for the widening of the parkway from I-75 to Hwy. 155 is estimated at $2.5 million, and if approved the county has promised a $500,000 match from its SPLOST account. County officials reported that the city of Locust Grove has also been informed and is in in full support of the project.
