Decatur police are searching for a man accused of hijacking a car early Monday morning.

The victim told officers the suspect, who had face tattoos, a shaved head and wore dark clothing, asked him for a ride before the theft, police said.

The victim said he let the man in the car after 3 a.m. at a gas station on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, agreeing to drive him to Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur.

The victim stopped his blue 2017 Hyundai Elantra on the 400 block of Ponce because he thought he had a flat tire. He got out, leaving the man in the car, and was soon left when the stranger took the car, police said.

The car has a Georgia tag with the number CGA3361.
