Alpharetta police are investigating a carjacking in which a man allegedly forced a woman from her van at knife-point.

Police say the victim was stopped at a red light around 2 a.m. when the attacker broke out the passenger side window and climbed inside the vehicle, Channel 2 Action News reports.

The woman’s cries for help woke up neighbors near the intersection of Rucker and Harris Roads, where the Dec. 9 incident took place.

The woman attempted to fight back by elbowing the attacker in the head, according to Officer George Gordon.

But when the man pulled out a knife, she fled to a nearby home, where 911 was called.

“You can imagine how traumatized she was,” Gordon told Channel 2. “She lost her car. She lost her purse. It’s my understanding she had gifts in her vehicle for the holiday season.”

Police do not have any strong leads.
