Doraville police announced Wednesday morning that a scheduled test of a tornado siren had been canceled because of the threat of actual tornadoes across Georgia.

"Due to the current and continued chances of severe weather, the tornado sirens will NOT conduct their regularly scheduled test,” the department said on Facebook. “If you hear the sirens today (4-5-17) please take shelter immediately!”

Doraville PD said it, along with other area agencies, is monitoring the weather throughout the day.

Tornado watches were issued in the morning across the metro Atlanta region. Flights were grounded at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
