Marietta police are investigating a fatal wreck that happened late Tuesday on Franklin Road.

Police spokesman Jared Rakestraw said Aereka Holmes, 28, of College Park, was southbound just after 11 p.m. when her 2012 Nissan Sentra, “for reasons unknown, crossed into the northbound lanes of Franklin Road and collided with a 2009 Honda Fit driven by 51-year-old Malcom Johnson of Marietta.”

Holmes was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where she later died. Johnson is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, Rakestraw said.

Rakestraw said the collision is still under investigation and asked that anyone with information on it contact him at 770-794-5357.
