In response to concerns about traffic congestion at Old National Highway and Interstates 85/285, the Georgia Department of Transportation has selected a local subcontractor to install video technology to adjust traffic light timing based on actual traffic activity. In the absence of vehicles, signals would switch from green to red, thus allowing more vehicles on the active paths to pass through without as much delay.

The installation is scheduled to be completed over the early summer months, to coordinate with sidewalk construction currently underway on Old National.
