Cobb County law enforcement will have more of a presence at The Battery Atlanta and SunTrust Park.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved a license agreement on Oct. 9 between The Battery Atlanta Association Inc. and Cobb County, allowing use by the Cobb County Department of Public Safety of licensed office space in the Command Center of The Battery Retail Village and the purchase and reimbursement of hardware and software for use within that space.

Cobb’s Department of Public Safety and The Battery Atlanta Association Inc. have identified a need for two police workstations within The Battery Atlanta to respond to calls for service, write police reports and issue warrants in and around The Battery Atlanta.

Having an onsite office will allow for quicker, more efficient responses of emergency personnel within the area, according to Cobb Public Safety Agency Director Sam Heaton.

Also, the agreement will allow the county to purchase the needed equipment to be used within the licensed space at an estimated cost of $3,521 that will be reimbursed by The Battery Atlanta Association Inc.

This agreement restricts the use of the equipment to authorized personnel only and requires The Battery Atlanta Association Inc. to upgrade the equipment, according to the county’s recommendation.
