Cobb County residents are among the least obese in the state.

The obesity rate Cobb and Fulton counties is roughly 22 percent, compared with the statewide average of 29 percent, according to recently released data. The data is part of the annual County Health Rankings project created by the University of Wisconsin and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Overall, most metro Atlanta counties tend to have lower rates of obesity than in many rural areas of Georgia. The exception is Clayton County, which has the state’s highest obesity rate at roughly 40 percent.
