Property will be bought by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners for a new fire station.

For $1.1 million, addresses are 3852, 3592 and 3686 Canton Road as the site for the new Fire Station 12.

For an estimated $150,000, this scope of work for the Canton Road property will involve due diligence investigation inspections to include a title search, appraisal, survey and Phase I environmental assessment and any subsequent tests or inspections required to confirm suitability.

Also, $50,000 will be spent to inspect and evaluate the property.

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services (CCFES) has been pursuing suitable property for Fire Station 12 to accommodate the increasing service and logistical needs in the Canton Road area.

The current Fire Station 12 was constructed in 1964 and has reached the end of its useful service life, according to Cobb Fire Chief Randy Crider and Cobb Public Safety Agency Director Sam Heaton.

The property currently is leased to a third party tenant, and that lease will be assigned to the county at closing.

This property is being purchased as part of an assemblage with an adjacent parcel at 3587 Centerview Drive.

The obligation to close the purchase of these Canton Road properties is contingent upon closing the purchase of this adjacent parcel at $263,500 with $50,000 more to inspect and evaluate the property.
