Clayton County has extended the the certification period for the Small Local Business Enterprise program.

In a move that became effective Jan. 1, Clayton County has extended the the certification period for the Small Local Business Enterprise program. Instead of being certified for two years at a time, businesses will have their certification last for three years at a time with a mandatory “NO Change Affidavit” submitted annually.

Due to the program growth, Clayton County officials said they believe this increase is necessary to ensure efficiency in vendor management, compliance and to increase outreach efforts.

A market study indicated that area agencies had the same or longer certification periods and benefit from focusing staff

time toward growing the program in increased outreach efforts and focusing on managing compliance of the program.

To date Clayton County has 154 small local business enterprises and 99 minority and women business enterprises.
