Chuy's is planning to bring its burritos, tacos and fajitas to Cumberland.

The Tex-Mex restaurant chain is slated to open in early spring 2017, according to a spokesperson for Olshan Properties, which owns and manages Akers Mill Square shopping center.

The restaurant will be developed where the former Circuit City building was, between Old Navy and Grub Burger Bar, according to a Chuy's spokesperson. A site plan shows a vacant 6,550-square-foot space there.

Chuy's joins numerous developments that seem to be clamoring for a spot within miles of SunTrust Park and the adjacent entertainment district called The Battery.

Such forthcoming projects include an indoor skydiving facility, a six-story mixed-use apartment building and a new driving range facility.

In addition to the future location at 2955 Cobb Parkway SE, Chuy's has Georgia restaurants in Kennesaw and Dunwoody.
