A 12-year-old child was accidentally shot Saturday afternoon in Clayton County, police said.

The victim and an 11-year-old child were playing with a gun when it went off, said spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury, who confirmed that the younger child fired the shot. The incident happened on Fitzgerald Road about 4 p.m.

Police do not know how the children got the gun.

The 12-year-old was flown to a hospital, Marbury said. Further details were not available.
