Reinhardt University students would have opportunities for after-school volunteering, community service and student teaching, while Cherokee County School District graduates would be eligible for scholarships under a one-year partnership agreement recently renewed by the Cherokee School Board.

The Cherokee School Board promised to actively recruit Reinhardt students interesting in working for one of the system’s after-school programs; offer opportunities for students to satisfy site-based community service requirements; and place student teachers in classrooms for Candidate Teaching Experience.

The Waleska-based university, in turn, agreed to provide joint enrollment to Cherokee students; scholarships of $500, $1,000 and $2,000; and judges for the science fair, young author’s fair, speech contests and other functions.

Cherokee students and employees would enjoy access to the Funk Heritage Center and Bennett History Museum at Reinhardt; and the district would be allowed reciprocal use of the university’s Fine Arts Center for art exhibits and Performing Arts Center for band and choral festivals.
