The Cherokee County School Board has renewed its partnership agreement with the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta – specifically, the Malon D. Mimms Club in Canton.

Under the agreement, the school district agrees to provide transportation to the club from Holly Springs and Indian Knoll Elementary Schools, Dean Rusk Middle School and Sequoyah High School. The principals of Hasty, Knox, Liberty and R.M. Moore Elementary Schools, Freedom and Teasley Middle School and Cherokee High School are authorized to work with the club for transportation at the club’s expense.

The district also agrees to pursue additional school/club recreational facility partnerships throughout the county, pursue joint grant opportunities, and consider joint site/facility development when looking at future school sites, if suitable land is donated for such purposes.

The club agrees to communicate its services to elementary, middle and high school students; ensure a supervisory ratio not to exceed 25:1; and seek to align its openings and programs with the district’s calendar.
