The Cherokee County School Board has approved a partnership agreement with the Georgia Ensemble Theatre and Conservatory for activities ranging from student field trips to internships and service projects for high school seniors.

The one-year agreement, the school district’s first with the Roswell-based Ensemble, also has the schools and theater company jointly pursuing grants, and the Ensemble participating in school events including fine art days and cultural art fairs, and providing judges for speech contents, play competitions and other art-related activities.

The Ensemble also agreed to offer school discounts on multiple performances of Theatre for Young Audiences productions, gift certificates to Main Stage and Young Audiences performances, and PTA member discounts on certain camps and classes.

The district, in turn, will promote Ensemble productions, as permitted by School Board policy; explore joint professional development opportunities, and encourage individual schools to provide time for Ensemble presentations to staff and PTA members.
