The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved spending $20,000 to have a consultant complete plans for the Hunter Trail-Hunter Trail Drive Improvement project, off Bells Ferry Road in the southwest portion of the county.

Hunter is an existing, one-lane gravel roadway that extends about 1,800 feet from Bells Ferry, according to a memo to commissioners from Geoffrey E. Morton, county public works director. The county board approved a supplemental agreement with Southeastern Engineering Inc. to locate the existing right-of-way and design a 20-foot-wide paved road.

“The first half of the task is complete: field survey and determining preliminary right-of-way impacts and right-of-way needs,” Morton said. “This proposal is for the completion of final construction plans including utility company coordination, preparation of erosion and sediment pollution control plans with submittal to the Georgia (Environmental Protection Division), completion of final right-of-way plans and right-of-way staking.”
