Updated traffic signage and striping at intersections around Cherokee County, a new sidewalk near Canton, and re-stained concrete medians near Woodstock and Holly Springs are among traffic projects totaling $420,785 recently approved by the county Board of Commissioners.

The board approved a $239,418 construction agreement with GTG Traffic Signals to install updated traffic signs, striping and pedestrian islands in connection with a $1 million project with the Georgia Department of Transportation to upgrade signals and equipment at 37 intersections in the Bells Ferry Road, Towne Lake Parkway, Eagle Drive, Sixes Road and Holly Springs Parkway corridor. The GTG contract is the county’s 20 percent match for the federally funded project.

Separately, Glosson Enterprises was awarded a $65,255 contract to construct a 5-foot-wide sidewalk along Gold Bridge Crossing over Downing Creek in the BridgeMill subdivision near Canton; and a $116,112 contract to re-stain the colored concrete medians on Eagle Drive near Woodstock and Sixes Road near Holly Springs.
