The Cherokee County Animal Shelter has announced it has way too many cats, and as November also is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, the shelter will waive the $100 adoption fee for anyone who adopts a cat over six months of age.

"We have 55 cats or kittens available for adoption today," the shelter said on Facebook. "On Saturday (Nov. 3) alone, we had 15 more cats surrendered to us. We are running out of space for adoptable cats!"

Shelter cats will come spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, de-wormed and FIY/FELY negative. People who have one are asked to bring a cat carrier. Adoptable animals can be viewed at: https://bit.ly/2PjFgpE

Meanwhile, for senior pet month, the shelter said it also will waive the adoption fee for any dog over five years of age. In addition to the above-listed services, every canine adoption includes flea/tick treatment, heartworm testing, and a free sample bag of food.

The Cherokee Animal Shelter is at 1015 Univeter Road, Canton. Adoption hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. Information: https://bit.ly/2z1zDSz
