Folks in Sandy Springs soon might be able to bring their own beer into a restaurant or retailer.

At a recent city council work session, Sandy Springs leaders began discussing the possibilities of expanding its brown-bagging and BYOB ordinance to include beer.

Currently, the ordinance allows patrons to bring their own wine into restaurants and retailers that allow it, such as art studio, Painting With a Twist. According to OpenTable, several restaurants, including Cibo E Beve, also allow customers to bring their own wine.

In addition to expanding the ordinace to include beer, city leaders are also working to “further define types of retail establishments which may acquire this special license, and establish a separate license fee for the special use,” Sandy Springs spokeswoman Marla Shavin said.

The current BYOB ordinance governing includes a provision requiring stores and restaurants allowing patrons to bring in wine be licensed.
