Gwinnett County police investigators now say a woman found dead in a Buford home Tuesday afternoon was a victim of a homicide.

Police said a family member of the victim became concerned when he hadn’t heard from her in several days. Once he got to the house, in the 1000 block of Anthony Drive, he found the woman dead inside. Her husband, who is disabled, was inside. He was later taken to a hospital because of a medical condition.

The woman was in her 50s, but her name has not been released. Gwinnett County police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a statement that “a family member” called police. It’s not clear which family member made the call at 1 p.m.

Investigators from the criminal investigations unit and crime scene lab are continuing their investigation at the house.
