Friends and shipmates of a couple killed in Okinawa are mourning Thursday night.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Savannah Cagle of Acworth and her boyfriend, Airman 1st Class Gabriel Antonio Fuentes-Lebron, of Florida, were riding a motorcycle last week when it collided with a car, killing them both.

A memorial was streamed live on Facebook at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Three shipmates and close friends raised money to fly to Georgia for Cagle’s funeral, a friend of Cagle’s family, Lisa Abner Hill, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The sailors weren't sure the GoFundMe campaign would yield enough for one plane ticket, but within one day of fundraising they surpassed the $5,000 goal.

Cagle, a 2015 Allatoona High School graduate, planned to fly home on Saturday to surprise her mother and sister, Payton, who graduates Allatoona High School on Friday.

Fuentes-Lebron and Cagle were “madly in love,” Hill said. “By all accounts, they were going to get married while they were here.”

Cagle’s body is expected to arrive at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

A funeral will take place either June 1 or 2, Hill said.
