Berkeley Lake’s mayor and City Council recently reviewed and recommitted a Code of Conduct policy. The purpose of the policy is to address conflicts of interest, use of city resources, acceptance of gifts or favors, and transparency.

The policy also makes it the responsibility of the mayor to insure no one at city council meetings makes personally disparaging remarks or reflects negatively on the character of others, as opposed to expressing a different point of view respectfully.

In a recent letter to the citizens of Berkeley Lake, Mayor Lois Salter stated, “When civility elsewhere in our society seems to be eroding and governments struggle to accomplish things, it is not an accident that our little city works so well.” Read the Code of Conduct: www.tinyurl.com/BLCodeOfConduct.
