A man in Cobb County jail has been indicted on a different set of charges that put him there.
The grand jury made its decision about Jeffery Moffatt on Nov. 2, court documents show.
According to an indictment, he used a small “improvised weapon” to stab Demetrius Johnson, who has yet to be tried on his charges of armed robbery and kidnapping.
The indictment — on charges of aggravated assault and causing a riot — in Moffatt’s July 7 prison stabbing did not say why Moffatt allegedly attacked Johnson.
The injuries to Johnson, who allegedly with another man robbed a pizza delivery worker in Cobb at knifepoint in December, were not detailed in court documents.
Records show that Moffatt has been in jail more than 560 days after police say he shot at two Georgia Department of Community Supervision officers. Moffatt was shot twice in the process.
Those officers were sent to the 1600 block of Climbing Rose Court in Kennesaw to arrest Moffatt on a probation violation, Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles said at the time in April 2016.

The GBI often investigates officer-involved shootings.
She said Moffatt’s parents told authorities that Moffatt, age 23 at the time, was behaving erratically.
“Preliminary information indicates that during the arrest, an altercation ensued and Moffatt was shot multiple times by two DCS Officers,” Miles previously said.
He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in serious condition. The officers weren’t injured.
Moffatt had been sentenced to 15 years in prison on an aggravated assault charge in November 2010 but was released two years later for an unlisted reason, state prison records show.
The trial date for his original set of charges has not yet been set, according to the online Cobb superior court database.
