A 59-year-old Austell woman was walking near the East-West Connector on Monday night when she was struck and killed by a driver.

Juana Vergara De Flores was heading south on Floyd Road near Seminole Circle just after 8 p.m. when a maroon 2013 Ford Explorer left the road and hit her, according to Cobb County police.

She was rushed to WellStar Cobb Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The department did not say why the SUV, which was also heading south, left the road.

Police said they do expect to file charges against the 69-year-old driver but wouldn’t specify what types of charges, as they are still investigating.

Anyone with information can call police at 770-499-3987.
