Patrick Labat, chief of the Atlanta Department of Corrections, was recently sworn in as the new president of the Georgia Jail Association during its annual summer training conference. The department said Labat’s term is effective immediately and ends at the 2018 conference.
Mayor Kasim Reed appointed Labat as chief of the Atlanta Department of Corrections in 2010. Labat’s community service work includes the creation of several youth programs such as Operation Correct Start, which shows young people how to avoid a life of incarceration.
