A fire at a Duluth pizzeria was a case of arson, Gwinnett County fire investigators have determined.

Firefighters responded to Pepperoni’s Duluth Alehouse at 2870 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. shortly after midnight Tuesday when a fire alarm at an adjoining business went off. They couldn’t find a fire in the adjoining business, but they noticed smoke at Pepperoni’s, according to a department release.

A melted water line had extinguished the fire before firefighters entered the restaurant, the department said. Investigators found evidence that indicates “someone set a fire inside the restaurant in order to destroy the property,” the release said. Specific evidence is not being disclosed because of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the fire should contact the Gwinnett County Fire Investigations Section at 678-518-4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. Tips may be rewarded with up to $10,000 from Georgia Arson Control if they lead to an arrest.
