The Alpharetta City Council has approved an intergovernmental agreement with Roswell for sidewalks at Old Roswell and Warsaw roads on the common border of the two municipalities.

Sidewalks six feet wide are planned along the east side of Warsaw from Old Roswell to Mansell Road, and along the north side of Old Roswell from Mansell Court East to Warsaw, according to an Alpharetta staff report to the council.

While the two cities were coordinating their planning, staff said, Roswell asked Alpharetta about possibly widening the Warsaw sidewalk to eight feet, as this stretch has been identified as part of the Roswell Loop connecting parks and schools.

Under the intergovernmental agreement, Alpharetta will manage the project’s design, easement acquisition and construction. Utility relocations required by the sidewalk’s eight-foot width and modifications to a traffic signal at Warsaw and Old Roswell will be Roswell’s responsibility. Other construction costs and utility relocations for the Warsaw sidewalk will be split 50/50 by the two cities.
