The Alpharetta City Council has awarded a $15.69 million contract for Kimball Bridge Road Corridor improvements, and approved an intergovernmental agreement with Fulton County for related water main upgrades.

CMES Inc., which submitted the lowest of six bids for the road work, will construct a second east/south bound lane for Kimball Bridge from North Point Parkway to Waters Road; a second west/northbound lane from Big Creek to North Point; and a dual-lane roundabout at Rock Mill Road, according to a staff report to the council.

The contractor also will construct sidewalks 8 to 10 feet wide along the street and connections to the Big Creek Greenway, and close two sidewalk gaps along the west/north side of Spruell Circle, staff said.

Under the intergovernmental agreement, Fulton will reimburse Alpharetta the roughly $6 million cost of upgrading an existing water line within the project limits and extending a 54-inch water transmission line.
