Due to recent rabies cases, Gwinnett Animal Shelter is offering free vaccines for rabies and other diseases to dogs and cats on Saturday, June 24.

Residents in four Gwinnett County zip codes —30071, 30340, 30360 and 30092 — can get their best friends vaccinated at Best Friend Park in Norcross from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

There have been seven confirmed cases of rabies in Gwinnett County so far this year, matching the total number in all of 2016. Two foxes and a cat have tested positive for rabies and were euthanized by county workers.

In addition to free vaccines, the shelter is also offering deeply discounted cat and dog adoption rates through the month of June.
