Acworth invites applicants for Citizens’ Police Academy

The Acworth Police Department is accepting applications for its free 17th annual Citizens’ Police Academy.

The academy will begin on Feb. 28 and continue every Tuesday 6:30-9 p.m. except for spring break during the first week of April.

Graduation will be held on May 16.

During the 12 weeks, participants will have the opportunity to interact with officers and receive a basic understanding of the operations of the Acworth Police Department and law enforcement in general.

Upon completion of the course, graduates will have an opportunity to ride along with officers during a tour of duty.

All classes will be held at the Acworth Police Department with a few field trips.

Participants must be 18 years of age and submit to a background screening.
